DHAKA: Supreme Court’s incumbent registrar (Senior District and Session Judge) Syed Aminul Islam has been appointed as Registrar General of Appellate Division.

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, on Sunday, appointed him till further notice, says a press release, signed by appellate division additional registrar Zakir Hossain.

Supreme Court and law ministry sources said the Chief Justice had sent a proposal to law ministry seeking its order in appointing Registrar General for Appellate Division to speed-up the trial procedures.

After completing proper process, appointment was done for the post in the Supreme Court Appellate Division for the first time.

Earlier, a registrar has been discharging duties for both the High Court and Appellate Division.
