DHAKA: The Pathology Department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) remained close from 11:00am Sunday due to power cut caused by electric short-circuit.
However, the other activities of the hospital kept open using generator.
But, seven lifts of DMCH new building are remaining close from 3:00pm due to technical glitch in power generator system.
The power cut caused immense sufferings of the patients, who came for treatment as they got stuck in several floors of the new building. There is no sloped walkway in the hospital.
A patient, 60, came from Faridpur, told banglanews that she had to wait long time for blood test. She returned without doing the test as the pathology department was close.
Head of Clinical Pathology Department of DMCH Dr Kazi Yasmin Sattar told banglanews the activities of the department remained close duo to short-circuit.
However, they had informed the authorities concerned and repairing work is underway.
DMCH assistant director (administration) Dr Abdul Gafur also repeated the same assurance.
