RANGPUR: A district court on Sunday gave capital punishment to a man along with son for killing his elder brother.

The convicts are Osman Ali and his son Mohsin.

Rangpur Additional District and Sessions Judge M Qamruzzaman passed the order at noon.

Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Advocate Akhtaruzzaman Palash conducted the hearing.

He said the convicts along with their aide chopped Nabi Uddin while he was returning home after finishing his morning prayer at Ekbarpur village under Pirganj upazila on August 21 in 2003.

Later, Nabi’s son Khairul Islam filed a case against his uncle Osman Ali and Osman’s son Mohsin with Pirganj Thana.

After 12 years of hearing Osman and Mohsin got capital punishment. Two other accused Obaidul Rahman and Laky Begun got released as the court did not find any prove against them.

The order will come into effect after their arrest as they are now fugitive.
