COX’S BAZAR: A total of 150 Bangladeshis, who were rescued in Myanmar sea boundary, have returned home Monday.
Earlier in the day, a 10-member delegation of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) went to Myanmar through Ghumdhum frontier in Bandarban and held a meeting with Myanmar Immigration and National Registry Department in Dekibania border area.
The rescued Bangladeshis were handed over to Bangladesh delegation at Ghumdhum High School playground at 1:50pm.
BGB-17 captain Lieutenant Colonel Khondakar Saiful Alam and Myanmar Immigration and National Registry Department director Cha Naring led their respective sides.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Alam said that among the rescued people 55 are from Narsingdi and 34 from Cox’s Bazar and the rest are from 15 other districts.
Earlier on May 21, Myanmar navy rescued 208 people on board. Among them, 150 were Bangladeshis.
