50 houses gutted in Gazipur fire

GAZIPUR: At least 50 houses were gutted as a fire broke out in Kadir Market area under Konabari Upazila of the district early Monday.

Fire service and police sources said the fire originated at the house of Anwar Hossain around 3:00pm and soon engulfed the adjacent houses.

Being informed, Gazipur Fire Service units rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 4:30am after half an hour’s frantic effort.

Konabari police outpost sub-inspector (SI) Mobarrak Hossain told banglanews that none was reportedly injured in the fire but all furniture and other valuables of the workers, who lived in the houses, have burnt to ashes.

Assistant deputy director of Gazipur Fire Service Akhtaruzzaman Liton confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The reason of the fire could not be known yet, however, fire fighters said that electric short circuit suspected cause of the fire.
