CHITTAGONG: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department officers have confiscated a container loaded with liquid cocaine worth more than Tk 100 crore at the Chittagong Seaport.
Acting on tipped off that cocaine was being transported in a container through the main seaport of the country.
Later, the container was sealed at CCT Yard no. 3 on Saturday night and it would be opened on Monday in presence of officers of departments concerned, said M Malekin, Assistant Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (Chittagong Office).
Sources said Khan Jahan Ali Limited imported a container (CDHU -9145769 / 193844) of goods with the announcement of importing Sun Flower oil, using the address of Nabi Market, 232 Khatunganj. The container loaded with 107 drums full of 2,140 kg liquid cocaine.
As per higher-authority directive, a team led-by city detective police Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) SM Tanvir Arafat started investigation into the matter.
According to information revealed from investigation, law enforcers detained owner of the organization. Later, they detained Sohel, who actually issued the import order using address and pad of the organization.
As per information given by him, police along with custom intelligence sealed the container.
