DHAKA: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a model of democracy and great personality.

The Indian premier posted it on his twitter in Bangla after paying tribute to Bangabandhu’s portrait in Dhanmondi of the city on Saturday.

He termed Bangabandhu a model of democracy, a great personality. He also paid ‘respect to a great friend of India’.

Earlier in the day, immediately after starting for National Mausoleum at Savar, Narendra Modi posted four tweets in both Bangla and English.

In first tweet, he said, “Hello Bangladesh. I bring with me the affection & goodwill of the people of India”.

In the second one, he added, “Thank you PM Sheikh Hasina for the warm welcome. I look forward to a very good visit that will strengthen ties between India & Bangladesh”.

However, a special flight of Indian Air Force carrying the Narendra Modi and his entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:10am on Saturday.
