3 girls rescued, trafficker held in Gazipur

RAJSHAHI: Police detained a human trafficker from a house at Daikini village under Kalikair upazila of Gazipur district on Thursday.

The law enforcers also rescued three girls, hailing from Godabari upazila of Rajshahi, from the house where they gathered for trafficking.

The detainee was identified as Akhtari Begum, 50, wife of Afsar Ali Akur of Bongpur village of the same upazila.

The three rescued girls were appeared before the media in Rajshahi superintended of police office on Saturday.

Police said, acting on a tip-off, the members of Godabari Thana conducted a drive in the area in Gazipur and rescued the girls and detained the trafficker.

They said trafficker Akhtari tried to trafficking them assuring that they would be sent to Middle East countries with a job.

Rajshahi SP Alamgir Kabir said victims family members informed police about the missing of their daughters and filed a case with Godabari thana under Human Trafficking Prevention Act.

Police spotted the missing girls’ whereabouts tracking their mobile call list and rescued them.
