Hasina, Modi hold bilateral meet

DHAKA: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi held bilateral talks at Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in city on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, the premiers flagged off two bus services on Dhaka-Shillong-Guwahati and Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala routes.

The services are expected to give a major boost to people-to-people connectivity.

The direct bus connection from Kolkata to Agartala via Dhaka would reduce the travel distance from 1,650-km to 400-km for India people between West Bengal and Tripura states.

The two PMs also held a tête-à-tête for 20 minutes.

They also handed over the documents of the Instruments of Ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement.

However, India’s West Bengal state chief minister Mamata Banerjee was present at the event.

The premiers are also set to attend the deal signing ceremony at the PMO.

They will also attend a joint press conference in the evening.
