DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina vowed to do everything to modernize the Bangladesh Army.
Besides, she expected more involvement of army in national development works.
The PM was addressing the ‘Generals Conference’ of Bangladesh Army at Army Headquarters Conference Room at Dhaka Cantonment on Thursday.
Sheikh Hasina also urged the senior army officials to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity by keeping confidence in the leadership of the superiors and also maintaining discipline in the force.
Highlighting the steps taken by AL-led government during its two previous tenures, the PM said the government had tried its best to modernize the Army.
She said Bangladesh Army have been completed many vital tasks including Joydebpur-Mymensingh Highway four lane, 24 kilometer long Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf marine drive road construction work, development works of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport runway and beautification works of Rayerbazar Intellectual Memorial showing their professional excellence.
Earlier, Army Chief General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan received the Prime Minister as she arrived at Army Headquarters.
