DHAKA: In the latest bid to prevent human trafficking, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to ensure punishment not only for the traffickers but also for the victims.
She directed the authorities concerned of Ministry of Labor and Expatriate Welfare while visiting the ministry on Sunday.
The premier said, ‘Not only traffickers but also those who will try to go abroad illegally will be punished. Otherwise, it will not be stopped. Moreover, it is tarnishing the image of the country.’
Targeting to those who are trying to go abroad at the risk of their lives, she said they have not any idea where they are going to using sea route.
‘It is unfortunate that the dead bodies are being found in the forest,’ she said ‘It is needed to monitor that none can go abroad illegally in the future.’
The prime minister also highlighted various facilities of employment taken by her government, including opportunity to go abroad legal way.
