COMILLA: Two cousins drowned in a pond at Jaruin village under Burichong Upazila of the district Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Samia Akhter, 3, daughter of one Hossain Mia, and Imon, 2, son of one Abul Kashem, resided at Jaruin village of the upazila.

Local people said they apparently slipped into the pond near their home while playing near it and drowned.

Later, relatives rescued their floating bodies and rushed to Burichong Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared them dead on arrival.
