DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed power, energy and mineral resources ministry not to approve new gas connection in residential areas.
The premier came up with the instructions while visiting the ministry at secretariat in city on Thursday.
After PM’s visit to the ministry, Nasrul Hamid, state minister for power, energy and mineral resources, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said PM asked the authorities concerned to approve gas connections in industrial sector instead of residential sector.
She also instructed the ministry to provide gas connection to industries and factories in export processing zones (EPZ) quickly, the state minister further said.
Moreover, the premier has asked to make LP (Liquefied Petroleum) Gas available at an affordable price across the country in the next 3 years.
