DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said a separate division of Bangladesh Army will be created for southern region of the country.

The division area will be located at the middle point of Barisal and Jhalakathi districts.

The premier came up with the declaration during a video conference with Patuakhlai District Development Coordination Committee after a regular cabinet meeting.

She also gave directives to the authorities concerned to solve the existing problems in respective areas as well as to utilize the possibilities.

Moreover, in a separate video conference with Netrokona District Development Coordination Committee, the PM asked the authorities concerned to establish a sanctuary for aquatic lives as well as to ensure employment and development in the area.

She also asked to use khas lands for sheltering homeless people in the district.
