DHAKA: The authorities of Dhaka Central Jail are ready to execute the Supreme Court order by hanging war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.

More than one hangman (Jallad) also have kept prepared and the scaffold clean to hang the convicted war criminal.

The jail sources said, “We are ready and will take the necessary steps after receiving the copy of court order.”

Earlier, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Monday upheld the death penalty to Kamaruzzaman for his crimes against humanity during country’s Liberation War in 1971 rejecting his review petition.

On May 9, 2013, the ICT-2, led-by Justice Obaidul Hassan, awarded capital punishment to the Jamaat assistant secretary general Kamaruzzaman.
