Nor’wester kills 15 in Bogra

BOGRA: At least 15 persons were killed as a nor’wester lashed in different areas in Bogra district on Saturday evening.

Scores are also injured in the storm.

Besides, the storm made a huge damage of crops and establishments. It had also uprooted some thousands of trees resulting electric supply a halt.

Police sources said that four persons were killed in sadar upazila, 3 in Shahjahanpur, 3 in Sariakandi, 2 in Kahalu and one in Dhunat, Sonatala and Gabtali upazilas each due to the nor’wester.

Bogra additional police super (Special Branch) Arifur Rahman Mandal confirmed the matter to banglanews.

However, the storm made a huge damage of corps in the area and halted road communication as trees had fallen on roads. It has also destroyed hundreds of mud-built and semi-pucca houses.

Moreover, the entire district has been suffering a blackout as power supply has yet to be restored due to the storm.

Authorities concerned could confirm about the return of electricity.
