TANGAIL: Two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail highways in Jogarchar area under Kalihati Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Hasan Ali, a laborer, A Hanid, a truck helper. They hailed form Aloavabani of the district.

Locals said that the accident took place when a Northern region-bound covered van, carrying cement, hit a sand-laden truck, parked on the roadside, in the area around 8:45am. Following the crash, both the vehicles plunged into the roadside ditch, killing Hasan on the spot and injuring four others.

The injured were rushed to Tangail Medical College and Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Hanif dead.

Dhaka-Tangail Bangabandhu Setu East Thana Officer-In-Charge Akheruzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
