COX’S BAZAR: Miscreants chopped the ringleader of a terrorist group to death at Islampur village of Sadar upazila in the district Tuesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Zakir Mostafa, son of Abul Basar of Ghonapara area of the town.

Cox’s Bazar Sadar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Kazi Matiul Islam told banglanews that some miscreants attacked Zakir in the area around 6:00pm and fled to the hill, leaving him dead on the spot.

Later, the body was taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

However, Zakir was accused in 14 cases including murder cases, the OC added.

Police initially suspected that Zakir was killed on previous enmity.

However, they are trying to identify the culprits and arrest them, Matiul said.
