CHITTAGONG: An elderly man and two cows were burnt alive when a fire broke out at Afsana Colony in Arefin Nagar area under Bayezid Thana of the port city early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Ali, 60.

Fire Service and Civil Defense control room operator M Shahidur Rahman of Agrabad Fire Station told banglanews that, originated from kitchen around 3:00am, the blaze soon engulfed nearby houses.

On information, four fire fighting units from Agarabad and Bayezid stations rushed to the spot and doused the flame after two hours of hectic effort.

In the meantime, a man and two cows were burnt alive and gutted four dwelling houses in the fire.

The damage caused by the fire was about around Tk 3 lakh, said the fire service officials.
