MEHERPUR: A man and his wife committed suicide by drinking poison at Ikuri village house under Gangni upazila of the district on Friday night due to extreme poverty.

The deceased were Bujur Ali and Rozina Khatun.

Bujur’s son Zamirul Islam told banglanews that his parents took the poison around 7:00pm following family feuds due to penury.

They were rushed to the Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared them dead.

Gangni Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Akram Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
