MEHERPUR: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) opened a border out post (BOP) at Ichakhali border under Sadar Upazila of the district.

BGB additional director general of Jessore zone Brigadier General Shahidul Islam inaugurated the new camp around 4:00pm on Monday.

The 47th BGB battalion commanding officer (CO) Colonel Javed Sultan, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, operational officer Major Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, Major Tarique Mahmud Sarkar, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district Mahmud Hossain and superintendent of police (SP) Hamidul Alam, among others, were also present in the inaugural ceremony.

While speaking Brigadier General Shahidul Islam said BGB would be able to control many kinds of criminal activities including smuggling of contraband items like drugs and human trafficking through the new BOP.
