DHAKA: Customs Intelligence Department held a person with three sacks of foreign currencies, Tk 4.5 crore and 528 gold bars from a house-cum shop at Purana Paltan area in city on Thursday night.

The detainee is identified as Mohammad Ali, owner of the house.

Director General of Customs Intelligence Department Dr Moinul Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Deputy Director of Customs Intelligence Department Mustafiz said that acting on tip-off, we conducted the drive and held Ali with three sacks of currencies of various countries including Saudi Real, Tk 4.5 crore and 528 (60kg) gold bars.

“We had seized the money from the box ceiling of the house though the house owner denied about it at first,” he added.

Details will be disclosed later through a press briefing, he also said.
