MUNSHIGANJ: The government is going to conduct drives against unfit vehicles and the drivers with invalid license from November 12 for reducing road accidents.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure after the inauguration of Dhaka-Mawa highway in Umpara area under Sreenagar upazila on Tuesday.

Obaidul Quader said, “The main reason of road accident is reckless driving. Random plying of human haulers on the road and illegal establishments adjacent to roads are also responsible for road mishaps.”

Regarding Padma Bridge, the minister said that river training work order for the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project will be given by next month.

The construction works of the bridge would be completed by 2018, he hoped.

The high officials of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Bridge Division also accompanied the minister.
