DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday expressed her deep shock on the death of Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin, widely honored as ‘Bhasha Matin’.
According to the BNP media wing, the party chief, through a condolence message, said that the nation has lost a legend of the Language Movement with the demise of Abdul Matin.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a separate message, expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Abdul Matin died, earlier on Wednesday morning, at city’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
Matin’s wife Gul Badan Nesa Manika told banglanews that Abdul Matin, 88, passed away around 9:00am.
‘Bhasha Matin’ had been undergoing treatment for several days for old age complications.
