DHAKA: A three-member probe committee was formed to investigate into the death incident at Mirpur police station in the city on Sunday.

Dhaka Metropolitan police (DMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasim Uddin was made head of the three-member committee.  

The probe committee was asked to submit its report to within seven days.

Mirpur Division Deputy Police Commissioner Imtiaz Ahmed told banglanews, “Following the incident, an investigation committee was formed and steps will be taken after getting the report from it.”

Earlier in the morning, a youth died in Mirpur Thana custody in city.

The deceased was identified as Mahbubur Rahman Sujan, 35, son of Meher Ali Shikdar.

Mirpur Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Salauddin Ahmed told banglanews, “That Sujan was enlisted terrorist and Mirpur Thana Sub-Inspector Jahidur Rahman detained him early Sunday with 10 rounds of bullets and two magazines.”
