CID resumes investigation

DHAKA: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) resumed its investigation into Juba League leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky murder case.

After accepting the petition, Metropolitan Magistrate Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan directed the CID to take necessary steps to probe the case and submit a report before it by August 10.

CID sources said that the ongoing investigation of the case is at the primary level.

Later, concerned authorities made assistant superintendent of police of CID ABM Siddiqur Rahman the Investigation officer (IO) of the case.

ABM Siddiqur Rahman, the IO of the case, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Riazul Haque Khan Milky, organising secretary of Dhaka city south unit of Juba League, the youth associate body of ruling Awami League, was gunned down by miscreants in front of Shoppers’ World at Gulshan Avenue-1 in the city on July 29, last year.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested six persons in this connection and submitted a charge sheet against 12 people on April 15.

The main accused of the murder case, Juba League leader Zahid Siddiki Tarek was killed in crossfire with RAB hours after he murdered fellow party man Riazul Haque Khan Milky.

Milky's murder sparked wide sensation as the TV channels carried the footages grabbed by the close circuit cameras of the shipping complex, visibly beyond the knowledge of Tarek.

Earlier, on June 9, lawyer Abdullah Al Mansur filed a naraji petition against the charge sheet in the Milky murder case.

In the petition, Milky’s brother Rashedul sought CID investigation into the case as the names of the principal accused were dropped from its charge sheet.
