DHAKA: It was a bright glorious morning on 24th April in 2013. The nine-storey Rana Plaza in Savar was humming with life. Sewing machines whirred; irons steamed.

Nobody was much bothered about the crack that had developed in the building the day before. In fact, over 4,000 people working there had forgotten it in the flurry of activity.

Thousands of people thronged the scene after the disaster. Many of them were in tears without having any clue where to look for their loved ones.

The search for the dead ended on 13 May with the death toll of 1,136. Approximately 2,438 injured people were rescued from the building debris.

Of woes, there was also good news. Garment worker Reshma Aktar was rescued from under the debris 17 days after the collapse.

It is considered as the deadliest garment-factory accident in history, as well as the deadliest accidental structural failure in modern human history.

International media ranked the Rana Plaza Tragedy as one of the top tragic events of 2013.

The Bloomberg ranked Rana Plaza incident the third in list of the top ten Reputation Crises of 2013 published in while the Time Magazine gave the tragedy the seventh position in list of the Top Ten International news stories of 2013.

Besides, the globalnews.ca marked the biggest industrial accident as 12th one in the world biggest stories of 2013 and the Telegraph mentioned the tragedy second biggest incident took place on April 2013 after Boston Marathon bombing.
