Bus plunge kills 5 in Rangpur

RANGPUR: Five people, including a minor, were killed and 20 others injured in a road accident in Angar bridge area on Rangpur-Dhaka highway early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Adu, 8, Momena, 32, Manik Mian, 30, Md Osman, 48 and Islam Uddin, 55. All of them, but Adu, were Readymade Garment workers hailed from Dimla upazila of Niphamari.

Witnesses said a passenger bus of Ena Paribahan plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering in the area at 6:15am, leaving four people dead on the spot and injured others.

Injured were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RaMCH) where Adu succumbed to his injuries.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Pirganj thana Officer-on-charge Sirajul Islam said on information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

The bodies will be sent to RaMCH morgue for autopsy.
