SATKHIRA: Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Sreepur village of Kaliganj upazila of the district Friday morning.

The incident took place at 9:00am.

The deceased were identified as Razia Parvin, 5, daughter of Nuruzaman and Tamanna Sultana, 3, daughter of Azgor Ali of the village. They were cousins to each other.

Kaliganj thana Officer-In-Charge Golam Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Locals said the kids went to collect mangos beside a pond, adjoining to the house, in the morning. Later, their floating bodies were recovered from the pond.

The deaths created a grief environment in the area.
