ACC files multiple cases against Tarique Siddique, family Tarique Ahmed Siddique

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed several cases against former Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique, security adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, along with his wife and two daughters, over allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income.

ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday (July 17).

According to the ACC, Tarique Ahmed Siddique is accused of accumulating undisclosed assets worth Tk 28.59 crore, incompatible with his known income, and conducting suspicious transactions totaling Tk 62.60 crore through four bank accounts in his name. The charges were filed under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004, the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947, and the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2012.

A separate case was also filed against Shahin Siddique, his wife, who allegedly amassed undisclosed assets of Tk 25.77 crore during her tenure as a public servant and conducted suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 59.38 crore through 11 bank accounts.

In addition, Nurin Tasmiya Siddique, their daughter, faces charges for possessing undisclosed assets worth Tk 3.37 crore while serving as a public servant. Both she and Tarique Ahmed Siddique are named in this third case.

A fourth case involves Bushra Siddique, another daughter, accused of acquiring undisclosed wealth of Tk 4.02 crore during her public service, with both her and Tarique Ahmed Siddique named as accused.

The ACC has taken these steps under relevant anti-corruption and anti-money laundering laws, marking significant legal action against the family members.
