Road crashes kill 12 in 2-dist

DHAKA: At least 12 people were killed and 42 others injured in two separate accidents in Komorpur area of Faridpur and Basantapur area under Sadar Upazila of Rajbari district early Friday.

Of the deceased, six were identified as Khandakar Golam Mostafa, 48, Mahbubul Alam, 40, Supervisor Babu Fakir, 40, helper Mohammad Jewel, 35, counter master Paresh, and Afsar Uddin, 35. 

Banglanews Rajbari Correspondent reports: A Barisal-bound passenger bus of Global Paribahan collided head-on with a bus of Eagle Paribahan in the area on Rajbari-Khulna highway, leaving ten people dead and 40 others injured. 

The injured were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and Rajbari Sadar Hospital. 

Goalando Intersection Highway Police Outpost in-charge Nazim Uddin confirmed the accident to banglanews.

In Faridpur, a Magura-bound microbus hit a roadside tree as its driver lost control over the steering around 3:30am in the area, leaving two dead on the spot. 

Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge Syed Madsinul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
