Anupam wins Tangail-8 by-polls

TANGAIL: Awami League-backed Anupam Shahjahan, son of demise former lawmaker Shawkat Momen Shahjahan has been declared victorious in the Tangail-8 by-polls Wednesday.

Anupam bagged 73,907 votes while his nearest aspirants AL rebel Abdul Malek got 73,056 votes.

The announcement came after getting result of postponed polling centers.

Earlier on March 29, following some irregularities, Returning Officer Syed Khurshid Anwar postponed the voting in vote center 90 of Ghechua Government primary school.

The constituency became vacant when of Member of Parliament Shawkat Momen Shahjahan died on January 20.
