The Election Commission (EC) has approved transfer of a total of 47 Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) as part of its efforts to hold upcoming parliamentary polls in a free, fair and transparent manner.

EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath confirmed the matter on Monday (December 4) afternoon.

He said the EC approved the transfer of 47 UNOs from different parts of the country and the transfer order of 20 more UNOs has already reached the commission.

“Over 250 UNOs will be transferred to hold the election in a free and fair manner,” he said.

On December 1, the EC instructed the Ministry of Public Administration to transfer all UNOs across the country in phases.
