Taposhi Tabassum sacked for controversial Facebook post

Taposhi Tabassum Urmi, former Assistant Commissioner at the Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner’s Office, has been dismissed from service.

She was first made OSD and removed over a controversial Facebook post about the interim government and its Chief Adviser Dr Yunus.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued an official notification on Wednesday (July 2).

The notification said that she has been awarded the highest form of disciplinary punishment—dismissal from service—following a departmental case under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.

On October 6 last year Taposhi posted a critical remark on Facebook, questioning the legitimacy of the interim government and its leadership.

Referring to Chief Adviser Dr Yunus, she wrote: “The head of the unconstitutional interim government says the reset button has been pressed. The past is gone. With one click, he has erased the entire history of the country. Is it that easy? The countdown has begun for you, sir.”

She also made other political posts expressing support for the ousted government and making remarks on student-led movements and the martyrdom of Abu Sayeed, sparking further controversy.

Later, on October 7, she was suspended from service and made OSD.
