A prisoner died inside Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail in Gazipur on Saturday night (Nov 26).

The deceased was identified Shaon Mahmud Ratan, 39, son of late Shafiq Uddin of Barunda area of Tongibari Police Station, Munshiganj, prisoner No-1661/22.

According to Kashimpur Central Jail sources, Ratan fell ill inside the jail suddenly. At that time he was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. Later, the doctor made an examination and declared him dead around 10:45 pm.

Kashimpur Central Jail-1 Senior Jail Superintendent (Additional Duty) Md. Amirul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said the body will be handed over to the relatives after legal proceedings.
