Kaushik Hossain Taposh, Chief Executive Officer of Gaan Bangla Television, was released on bail from Keraniganj Central Jail on Wednesday evening around 7pm.
Dhaka Division DIG (Prisons) Md Zahangir Kabir confirmed the matter and said Taposh walked out of jail after securing bail.
Taposh was arrested by police on November 3 last year around 3am from near his residence in Uttara, confirmed Mohibullah, Officer-in-Charge of Uttara East Police Station.
He was the 9th accused in a case filed by businessman Ishtiaque Mahmud over an attempted murder. The incident occurred on July 18 during a protest in front of Nawab Habibullah High School in Uttara's Azampur area.
According to case statement gunshots fired by attackers hit Ishtiaque in the stomach, back, hand, and head. He later underwent surgery at Evercare Hospital.
Ishtiaque filed the case on October 29, naming 126 people including former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun. Taposh was later placed on remand and appeared in court as part of the proceedings.
