Popular singer Mainul Ahsan Noble has been arrested by Demra Police in a case filed over physically abusing a female student.

Confirming the matter on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Mohammad Talebur Rahman said Noble was arrested in connection with a woman abuse case.

Demra Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudur Rahman said the arrest was made around 2:00am on Tuesday while Noble was trying to flee the Demra Staff Quarter area in a car.

According to police, Noble had allegedly kept a female student of Eden College confined in his house for the last seven months and tortured her.

The victim was later rescued, and based on her statement, a case was filed. Noble was arrested after the case was recorded, the OC added.

The victim is now receiving treatment at the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The accused singer has been sent to court.
