A Dhaka court has ordered a fresh investigation into the death of film star Salman Shah after accepting a murder case over the incident.
The court directed the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station to reinvestigate and submit a new report.
The ruling was delivered on Monday (October 20) by Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque.
The judge granted a revision petition filed by the complainant, paving the way for the case to proceed as a homicide matter.
Court officials said details on the scope of the reinvestigation and the reporting timeline will be set out in the written order.
Salman Shah (Chowdhury Muhammad Shahriar Emon) was found dead at his Dhaka residence on September 6, 1996.
Earlier inquiries reached differing conclusions; a 2020 Police Bureau of Investigation report had said he died by suicide, a finding the family contested.
