IUB hosts first-ever Norwegian Film Festival in Bangladesh

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted the first-ever Norwegian Film Festival in Bangladesh on Saturday, October 12, 2025.

Jointly organized by the Department of English and Modern Languages and the Department of Media and Communication, the festival featured the screening of three Norwegian films — No Other Land (documentary), Let the River Flow (feature film), and Maybe Just for You (short film).

The day-long, open-to-all event celebrated the power of cinema as a universal language that connects people and cultures beyond borders. The selected films explored diverse human experiences, inspiring empathy and reflection on global social and cultural issues.

IUB Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Tamim and the Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh, Mr. Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen, jointly inaugurated the festival at the DMK Lecture Gallery. Faculty members, students, and guests attended the screenings throughout the day.

The festival marked a unique cultural exchange initiative, highlighting the growing collaboration between Bangladesh and Norway in the fields of education, art, and communication.
