Elections to the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) and the hall unions are being held today for the first time in 35 years.
Voting for the 7th CUCSU election began at 9:00 am and will continue until 4:00 pm, with ballot counting scheduled to start immediately after the polls close.
To ensure transparency and student engagement, 14 LED screens have been installed across the campus to display live updates throughout the day.
A total of 27,518 students are eligible to vote in this historic election — comprising 16,189 male and 11,329 female voters.
The polls will determine representatives for 26 CUCSU posts, with 415 candidates vying for positions in what has become one of the most anticipated events in the university’s recent history.
University authorities and student organizations have described the election as a major step toward reviving campus democracy and encouraging a new generation of student leadership.
