Gold price rises again

The price of gold has been increased by Tk3,662 per bhori (11.664 grams), just four days after a previous reduction, bringing the new price to Tk1,74,948 per bhori.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) held on Tuesday.

A press release signed by the committee’s chairman, Masudur Rahman, confirmed the matter.

According to the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk14,999 per gram, 21-carat gold at Tk14,318 per gram, 18-carat gold at Tk12,272 per gram, and traditional gold at Tk10,156 per gram.

The revised prices will come into effect from Wednesday.

BAJUS cited international market trends and local demand as the reason for the adjustment in prices.

However, the price of silver remains unchanged.

The rate for 22-carat silver is Tk241 per gram, 21-carat at Tk230 per gram, 18-carat at Tk197 per gram, and traditional silver at Tk148 per gram.
