DHAKA: Mazedul Nayan, special correspondent of country’s leading online news-portal Banglanews, has received Asia Journalism Fellowship 2017 for his outstanding works in professional journalism.

A total of 16 journalists including Nayan from 13 Asian countries will join the fellowship program at Singapore from 24 July to October 13. They have been selected for this program out of 50 journalists from the Asian countries.

After the launch in 2009, it is the 9th edition of this fellowship. Aside from Mazedul Nayan, Journalists from China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Mongolia for the first time have been invited to the program. Moreover, only two journalists from China, India and Malaysia are getting an opportunity to participate in this fellowship program.

Under this fellowship, Majedul Nayan will spend three months in Singapore for research projects while he will attend seminars and visit institutions. He will also meet with officials, academics and media personalities in Singapore.

Temasek Foundation International and Institute of Policy Studies has been organizing the fellowship under the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy of National University of Singapore.
The invitation paper to Mazedul Nayan stated that he is a special correspondent of Banglanews. In 2011, he started his carrier at Banglanews and received award for exceptional reporting on child murder and migrant workers in 2016. Nayan wants to create a media guideline on terrorism reporting during his stay in Singapore.
