DHAKA: Biman Bangladesh Airlines started collecting increased excise duty from passengers of its domestic and international flights following a government decision.
The increased excise duty has been imposed since June 4, says a press release.
According to the release, domestic air travelers will pay Tk 500 per ticket for single journey instead of Tk 200.
Passengers will pay Tk 500 per ticket which was Tk 200 for travelling in the countries of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
As per the release, passengers will pay Tk 1,000 to travel rest of the Asian countries and Tk 1,500 for other countries.
As per release, the increased amount is as follows:

Domestic (BD) TK. 200 TK 500
SAARC countries TK. 200 TK 500
Asian countries TK.500 TK 1000
Others TK.500 TK 1500
All the taxes and fees are generally collected during ticket sale.
Passengers who have purchased their tickets without paying the increased Excise Duty are advised to contact nearest Biman office or travel agent and pay the increased duty to avoid hassle at the airport.
