Biman, again a loss project!

DHAKA: Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the state-owned aircraft carrier, is becoming a loss project again as it’s passengers and earning are declining day by day after the joining of Kevin Steele, the new managing director of Biman.

According to the Biman information, revenue earning decreased Tk800 crore and passenger’s number declined 3, 76,090 in last six months.

On March 19, Kevin Steele joined as managing director of the national flag carrier and he declared that within two years Biman will be a profitable institution.

But the result showed different. The calculation says that Biman earned Tk 338 crore on April of last year but April of 2013 it earned Tk 258 crore which is Tk 80 crore less than the last year.

Former member of the board of directors and aviation expert Kazi Wahidul Alam told banglanews that, “The calculation of six months cleared what could be possible by the foreign management directors. This is called morning shows the days.”

When contacted, Biman directors refused to make any comment regarding the matter.
