MANAMA (BAHRAIN): Gulf Air is expected to resume direct flights operation between Dhaka and Manama from May 30.

Earlier on March 1, 2013, Dhaka-Manama direct flight by Gulf Air was closed without any pre-declaration due to bank account related complexities. Flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines were also postponed due to the same reason.

Bangladesh ambassador to Bahrain General Colonel KM Mominur Rahman, minister of embassy Mehedi Hasan and secretary (labor) Mahidul Islam requested Bangladesh government for opening the flight as the expatriates have been facing a lot of problems since then.

The ambassador told banglanews that direct flights from Bangladesh to Bahrain will resume on May 30 depending on the fulfillment of all conditions by both sides.

He further said that it will take only four hours between Bangladesh and Bahrain if the direct flights operation resumes.

Initially five flights are expected to be operated in a week and at least one flight from Chittagong and Sylhet each, he added.
