SYLHET: Criticisms raised over security system of Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport as fellow leaders and activists of Chhatra League President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon illegally entered the airport apron to see him off Thursday (September 5) night. 

Hundreds of followers gathered at the airport while some of them even entered the plane trespassing the VIP entrance and Departure lounge to say a goodbye or present a flower bouquetto Shovon, several witnesses and the airport officials told Banglanews.

Shovon was to return Dhaka by a private airlines flight after wrapping up a four-day visit to Sylhet, around 8:35pm.

As the BCL men entered the plane, passengers and the foreign pilot of the flight felt panicked. On-duty aviation officials including security personnel Nazrul Islam rushed to the scene and managed to pull them out. 

Higher authorities have called in the airport's manager Hafiz Ahmed to Dhaka over the incident, said sources from the airport.

Video footages of the scene have been collected as well.

However, while contacted, Hafiz Ahmed and Nazrul Islam didn't pick the phone.
