BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today compared the party to a phoenix, saying that numerous conspiracies aimed at dismantling BNP have failed, while the conspirators themselves have fled the country.
He made the remarks during the inaugural session of the Kishoreganj district BNP triennial council, held at the old stadium in the town.
BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was scheduled to join the conference virtually as the chief guest.
The conference, held after nine years, began with the national anthem, hoisting of the national and party flags, and rendition of the party song.
Leaders and activists from various upazilas marched to the venue, with several thousand members participating, creating a festive atmosphere.
BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam attended as the special guest, while Joint Secretary General Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel addressed the gathering as the main speaker. District BNP President Md Shariful Alam chaired the event, and General Secretary Md Mazharul Islam moderated the programme.
In the second session, from 4 pm to 8 pm, a total of 2,090 councilors were set to cast their votes to elect the new president and general secretary of Kishoreganj district BNP, forming its new leadership.
The event reflects BNP’s continued organizational strength and enthusiasm among its grassroots leaders, signaling the party’s readiness to face future challenges despite political conspiracies.
