DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday (July 14) expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former president and main opposition Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
Obaidul Quader, also the Bridges minister, in a mourning note, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
The matter was confirmed in a press release signed by Awami League Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap.
Fondly called as 'Palli Bondhu', HM Ershad breathed his last at 7:45am Sunday, at CMH-Dhaka.
The 90-year-old military ruler was suffering from various old age complications including low hemoglobin count, liver complications, and lung and kidney infections.
He will be buried with state honours at Combined Military Graveyard in Dhaka Tuesday (July 16), under Army supervision.
