Gono Forum expels Sultan Mansur MP Sultan Muhammad Mansur Ahmed

DHAKA: Dr Kamal led Gono Forum expelled Sultan Muhammad Mansur Ahmed for “anti-party and anti-public activities” hours after he had taken oath as an MP of the 11th national parliament.

Gono Forum General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu disclosed the announcement at a press briefing at the party central office Thursday (Mar 7) afternoon.

Mansur’s primary membership of Gono Forum and steering committee membership of Gono Forum’s political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront both have been cancelled, Montu told media.

Mansur was granted primary membership of Gono Forum on Nov 10 last year after he stepped down as an organizing secretary of Awami League.

Gono Forum leaders Rafiqul Islam Pathik and Mostak Ahmed attended the press briefing.

Earlier, around 11am, Mansur was sworn in by Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

He contested the Dec 30 national elections from Oikyafront, with BNP’s voting symbol ‘paddy sheaf’ from Moulvibazar-2 constituency.

He was one of the two candidates of Gono Forum who won the 11th national polls.

The other one, Mokabbir Khan, moved back from taking oath lately.
