MOULVIBAZAR: Five members of a family were killed after a fire broke out at a building in Moulvibazar town this morning (Jan 28).

The deceased are - owner of Pinky Shoe Store Shubhash Rai, 65, his daughter Priya Rai, 19, his sister-in-law Dipti Rai, 48, another sister-in-law Dipa Rai and Dipa's daughter Boishakhi Rai, 3.

According to the locals, the fire incident occurred at a shoe store in the ground floor of the building. Later fire spread to the first floor where the victims were residing, they added.

Sadar Police Station OC Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

However, the reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, he said.

The bodies have been kept in Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
